Privacy policy

Last updated: 13 July 2026

This policy explains what information Tally collects, why, where it is stored, and the choices you have. We aim to collect the minimum we need to run the service.

1. What we collect

Account information: your name and email address, and if you sign in with Google, the basic profile details Google shares with us (name, email, and profile picture). If you sign up with email, we store a hashed version of your password, never the password itself.

Your content: the plans, drawings, and 3D models you upload, and the takeoff data you create from them, such as measurements, rates, quantities, exclusions, and exports.

Usage information: standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and actions taken in the app. We use these to keep the service secure, debug problems, and understand how the product is used.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to provide the service: authenticate you, process and display your uploads, build your takeoffs, and generate your exports. We also use it to support you when you contact us, to protect the service from abuse, and to improve the product. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploaded plans or models for advertising.

3. Where your data is stored

Account and takeoff data is stored in a managed database with a reputable cloud infrastructure provider. The application itself is hosted on reputable cloud infrastructure. Uploaded 3D models are processed and stored with Autodesk Platform Services so they can be converted into viewable geometry and element data. These providers may store data in regions outside New Zealand; where they do, we rely on providers that apply comparable safeguards to those required by New Zealand law.

4. Third party processors

We share data only with the providers that run the service:

Autodesk Platform Services processes uploaded models. Google provides optional sign in. Reputable cloud infrastructure providers host the application and our database. Each provider receives only what it needs to do its job.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your account data and content while your account is active so your projects and takeoffs are there when you come back. If your trial ends without a paid plan, your data is retained so you can pick up where you left off if you continue later. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information and content within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records to meet legal obligations.

6. Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You can also ask us to delete your account and data. To do any of these, email support@hitally.ai and we will respond within the timeframes the Act requires. If you are not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

7. Security

Data moves between your browser and the service over encrypted connections. Access to production data is restricted, passwords are stored hashed, and sessions are signed and time limited. No online service can promise perfect security, but if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner where the Privacy Act 2020 requires it.

8. Cookies and sessions

Tally uses cookies to keep you signed in and to keep the service secure. We do not use third party advertising cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service evolves. If we make a material change we will let you know, for example by email or a notice in the app. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the current version.
