Projects and plans
Create a project
Start a job in Tally and land straight on its drawings.
Make one
- Go to Projects. This is where Tally opens by default.
- Choose New project.
- Type a Project name. It is the only thing you have to fill in. Use a name you will recognise in six months: the address or the client plus the job usually beats a number.
- Choose Create & add plans. Tally creates the job and takes you straight to its drawings, ready to upload.
If you are not ready for drawings yet, Create beside it makes the job and leaves you on the project.

The rest of the dialog
Template starts as Default template (blank). Choosing a project template applies its areas, to-dos, labels, default status and members to the new job, so a job you run the same way every time can start half built. See reuse work with templates.
Who has access shows you as the administrator and owner. Sharing & access below it lets you invite someone by email while you are here, rather than coming back later.
Show more details opens the fields you may not need on every job, such as the client and the quote number. Browse sample projects is there if you would rather poke at a finished job before starting your own.
Add the client and quote number when you have them
They are optional, but the projects list shows both on the card and lets you search by quote number. Filling them in is what makes a long list findable later.
Jobs you are not using
Finished or abandoned jobs do not have to clutter the list. Choose Archive project on the project overview and it moves to Archived, keeping everything in it. Trash is separate, and is for projects you actually want gone.
Next
A project with no drawings cannot do much yet. Next, upload plans.
