Getting started

Set up your account

The few settings worth doing on day one, and the ones you can safely leave.

Where the settings are

Choose Setup in the top bar, or open your account menu and choose Setup. Everything here applies across every project in your workspace, not just the job you have open.

Setup opens on Profile, and the list down the side runs: Profile, My symbols, Project statuses, Project labels, Take-off labels, Price book, Users, Billing and Integrations. Some of those sections need permission, so you may not see all of them.

The setup profile page with the setup navigation, profile fields and organisation settings
Setup opens on your profile. The account-wide settings sit below it.

Worth doing on day one

  1. Check your profile. Your name and email are used across the account, so get them right before you share anything. If your email shows an Email not verified marker, choose Send verification email. Choose Save changes when you are done.
  2. Set your organisation name and timezone. They sit in the Organisation settings card at the foot of the same page. The timezone is what every date in the app is stamped against, so it is worth a look now rather than when a date reads oddly.
  3. Put a few rates in your price book. You do not need the whole book, but the first job goes faster if the parts you use most are already there. See build your price book.
  4. Add the people who work on your jobs. See invite your team.

Safe to leave for now

Project statuses, project labels and take-off labels all arrive with sensible defaults. They are worth tuning once you know how you want to sort your jobs, which is usually after the first couple rather than before. So are your count symbols. See customise your workspace when you get to it.

Sign in with Google and two-factor

The profile page shows a Connect Google button and a Set up 2FA button. Neither is live yet: the page says so itself, and both connect later. Sign in with your email and password for now.

Next

That is enough setup. Go and create a project.
