Find your way around
The four things in the top bar, the menus behind them, and the Copilot rail down the left.
The four places to go
The top bar carries four destinations, and they are the same wherever you are.
Projects is your list of jobs, and it is where Tally opens. Models lists the 3D building models across your account. Templates holds reusable measurement sets and job structures. Setup is everything that applies across all of your jobs, such as your rates, your team and your labels.
The Tally wordmark on the left takes you home to your projects at any time.
The menus beside them
Recent lists the projects you opened last, which is usually the fastest way back into yesterday’s job.
New starts something without hunting for the right screen first. It offers a project, a project template, a take-off template, and a take-off template built from a CSV file.
The question mark icon opens Help, and the icon beside it opens your Account menu, which holds Setup, Billing, Profile and Log out.
What is in the help menu
Help guide opens this guide in a new tab, so you never lose a takeoff in progress by going to read something.
Send us a message opens your email app with a message to our support team already addressed. In-app live chat connects later.
Shortcut keys opens the same list you will find in keyboard shortcuts.
Enable editor tips is a tick box, on by default. It controls the orange tip strip that rotates through six pointers while you have a drawing open. Turn it off once you know them.
Training videos lists the topics a video library will cover. The library connects later, and no videos play yet.
The rail down the left
That panel is Tally Copilot, and it is open by default on every screen. It is an assistant that can do work in the app with you, and the line under its name tells you what it is currently looking at, which changes as you move around.
You can collapse it with Collapse Tally Copilot and drag its edge to resize it. Collapsing it is worth knowing about: it gives the page back about 400 pixels, which matters on wide tables such as the price book. See work with Tally Copilot.
Your list of jobs
The projects list shows one card per job, with its status, its client and quote number, and a count of how many plans it holds, how many are complete, and how many areas it is split into.
Search by name or quote number, filter by Status or Labels, change the Sort, and switch between a large list, a compact list and a table. Down the left of that screen sit Projects, Calendar, Archived and Trash.
Getting back to a drawing
Inside a project you will see Return to plan, which jumps straight back to the last drawing you had open, and a Recent plans menu beside it. You do not have to walk back through the tabs.
